restaurant
amy one day last summer, i ate at one of those calming vegetarian restaurants. they're sort of a chain...and the people who run it are gently promoting sri (i think). they are a national chain of sorts- maybe you've seen one of them? anyway, a man sitting next to me ordered just tapioca pudding and inevitably starting talking to me. he looked like one of these eastern Washington lumberjack types. but he was actually a folk singer. i don't know how we got to this topic, but it turns out that he was in Washington D.C. at some point with his manager or agent. they found themselves at the Lincoln Memorial in the middle of the night. 4 am if i remember correctly. see, his manager had never really heard him perform... so, he launched into "Amazing Grace" then, in the Lincoln Memorial at 4 am. he felt God then, he told me. he gave me his card and phone number, etc. but i dismissed him because i wasn't particularly interested in much Christian conversation. But, you know, now that i think about it, i can imagine that he sang that song loud and strong, and felt pretty alive about it all. 000128
