must....get.......live at sin-e two disc + dvd 40 tracks of live jeff (36 on cd, 4 on dvd) just jeff and his guitar in a cafe in lower manhattan before he made it big; doing some stuff that would later appear on grace, some amazing covers (be your husband, just like a woman, calling you, drowning in my own tears, je n'en connais pas la fin, i shall be released, sweet thing, hallelujah). the closest we can ever get to jeff now that he's gone. so worth it. trust me. and so enchanting that i can barely speak in complete sentences about it.

ps. this is an expanded version of the 'live at sin-e' ep that was released years ago with only 4 tracks; that are all included on this album. i burned a candle while i listened to your_voice , and the flame was steady and unwavering.

the most surprising thing, i found, was when he botched the beginning of "calling you" and segued into an impression of live electric-period miles davis. while he was obviously goofing off and imitating a trumpet, it's the most i've ever heard him sound like tim circa-1970/71, if only for about thirty seconds and unintentionally so. makes all the swipes he took at his father that much more interesting.
