re_alisma my pema chodron self-made cards advise against it. always, always, always, always strive to be compassionate.

the dalai lama is today talking about internal disarmament. one of the trees on my walk - a youthful, but still got some years on him tree -- would disagree with him, i think.

Dalai Lama says:
When we disarm internally by countering negative emotions and cultivating positive qualities, we create conditions for external disarmament.

the tree says if you actively favor one thing you start to passively disfavor other things, and this the tree has an advisement against. the tree actually used the words "love" and "hate". i find this tree interesting because he has two parent trees, and siblings, and ancestor trees (not literally, it's just the way they are arranged) who are all considerably quieter than he is. he is actually the boldest tree on my walk. (it took two years of daily nice-weather walking to get the trees to start talking, BTW. and they don't always, but they do sometimes. although this is of course more points for a crazy too-solitary imagination-run-away-with-her-amy, too.)

i don't get the impression that this tree knows much about inter-human emotional connections, though. yep, i don't get that impression. but i think what the tree says is diplomatically wise.
