stork daddy sam was surrounded by normal people. he didn't have all of the fascinating drunks and punks johnny had. or so it seemed to him all the time. in truth, sam was surrounded by people who would do the exact same things as the people johnny was surrounded by were they in that situation. although it was always espoused by sam's father that it was those people's personality that put or kept them there. those people. the poor. sam's father was a great example. sam knew he was an asshole, but he didn't know how much he was different than other people. sure he hadn't ever buried a vagrant in the woods at three in the morning, but he would, and he would relish it most likely. the society sam lived in, mainstream society, consisted of people who pulled center so as not to scare each other away. most people in it had one two or a little stable of unacceptable traits or desires, but they didn't usually match up with this person's or that person's who they were trying to love or steal from or know. and so they each hid their unacceptable traits and called it even. so everyone just pulled center. but they were all quite interesting underneath their workable middle or upper class strategies. the poor had time for only the most basic adjustments, and usually there was no need for decorum or convincing. they didn't have a moderate or patient hunger coming at them from the other side, forcing them to compromise. they had someone who wanted something and was willing to give or take. 040525
