z it seems like a liberal ideal to be tolerant of differing points of view. conservatives often seem to be in lock-step. i have always thought that the democrats suffer from a lack of monolithic thinking which tends to support coordinated efforts. this lack often results in high principles and a difficulty getting things done. health care reform being a very good example. republicans are better at real-politic than democrats. it's too bad that tolerance is a liability in politics. 100113
