"Gödel and the end of physics"

Stephen Hawking:-

"What we need, is a formulation of M_theory, that takes account of the black_hole information limit. But then our experience with supergravity and string theory, and the analogy of Goedel's_theorem, suggest that even this formulation, will be imcomplete."

M Physics 21: Stephen Hawking 'bows' to the Theory of Everything

Date: Jan 23 2003
Location: Judge Institute, Cambridge University with video transmission to MIT and webcast via the Internet

"Professor Hawking carried us on this quest, which dates from Aristotle, through classic Newtonian theory, to the development of quantum theory in the twentieth century. Finally he said,

Some people will be very disappointed if there is not an ultimate theory, that can be formulated as a finite number of principles. I used to belong to that camp, but I have changed my mind. I’m now glad that our search fro understanding will never come to an end, and that we will always have the challenge of new discovery."

Happy exploring & have a good time...

Einstein forever altered our thinking about space, time and the Universe, but some of his most basic ideas remain untested and bafflingly at odds with the rest of modern physics.
