ever dumbening we are all entitled to our own opinion as to just who jesus was—son of god, or more along the lines of another prophet like siddhartha, or simply a great thinker and teacher—but if we can agree that _something_ special was going on there, then we can continue. imagine, then, what it must have been like to be one of his students or one of his student's students.

i had a moment today in yoga class, when my teacher was discussing his teacher's interactions with bks iyengar (who is still going strong while approaching his 90th birthday later this year) and iyengar's daughter and granddaughter. i thought of lineages, of how we pass things down. i had a rush of gratitude for living in the same time as iyengar. not that i'm saying iyengar is jesus or buddha (we could discuss for eternity where he "ranks" and still never arrive anywhere), but it's quite possible that hundreds or thousands of years from now people will be practicing iyengar yoga, and those people might wonder what it was like to be alive way back then. i proclaim years and years forwards to them: it was amazing.
