In the passing of youth
Springtime wonders abound
To keep restlessness long distance running
Go away!
Run away!
Begone familiar moments!
Let newness set the pace
Seldom short of breath or spark
Come fascination's second wind
No want of long past memories
Never wanting could've, should've been
Just anticipations pulse to feed, as it quickens
Just satisfaction to throw on the fire.
Against this hurried, hectic pace
Between some longing's tender blades
There in some field of younger days
A clover blossom's shadow plays
And echoes off the foxtails
Truth as subtle, patient lingers
Where my treasures lie.

'Twere lost among the many whims
Less a spectacle than each passing fancy
More as twilight's parting cobalt
Seems to greet the evening sky
Were it maybe meant instead
To mark the Sun's goodbye?
There is no Sun
The day has gone
Perhaps it was a dream
Perhaps we were just seeing things
Watercolor curtains part
Scene One: a starlit night
Wonders never cease, it seeems
To catch a wandering eye
Amazement's reward to an eager apprentice
Fascination's promise to a student of life
Thus did the magic live in the moment
Live for the moment
Where my treasures lie.
