redtree why redtree?

good question. trees bear fruit.
if red_blather was a tree, then the 'skites are the fruit, each one ripe and ready to pick. each with its own individual taste. each one nourishing the reader's soul uniquely and specifically.

have you ever tried to get your writing published?

do you think of yourself as a good writer?

what does being a "good writer" mean to you?

why do you write?

would you say you're a content person?
051129
...
crOwl i've been writing ever since i could because i think there are people who ARE writers, like most of us at the blather worlds. writing for me is how i understand my life. i read what i have written and it makes sense to me. writing validates experience. it incites memory. it gives the world a window.

sure. i would love to see a book i have written on a shelf where someone could pick it up, take it home, read it, and then give it to someone else to read. but, i haven't pursued that because i'm involved in many things for other people that require my complete presence. published on blather is sufficient for now and knowing my stories and journals will live on when i'm gone to whoever finds them is acceptable. (hopefully grandchildren)

a good writer is one who can engage his reader into the art that is his life. the reader can entertain all his senses by the words and be transported into time and place. he can share the protaganist's thoughts, live out his experience, and allow it to change him with intrinsic value.

if i can do that to those who read my words and stories then i am a good writer.

contentment makes me think of satisfaction. a sense of having what one needs, whether it is physical or spiritual. yet, contentment is never stagnant.

i see it as if i'm on a boat with my family. the five of us inside look behind to see our wake, where we've been, what we've done, what experiences we've had, the memories we possess, our interactions with others, and then we look ahead to what is in front of us. maybe there's a storm coming. maybe an island. it doesn't matter.

the contentment is being in the boat, all of us together. the fact we are moving forward, growing, learning, living.

thanks for your interest.

do you like animals? what kinds? are there any creatures you don't like?

have you ever blown bubbles & caught them in your mouth?

when was the last time you ate a snow cone?

do you have a nook i can sleep in?

thorn what makes you happy? 070713
...
redtree hey jane...thanks for the questions...

i love animals. dogs are defiantely my favorite. i have two. an australian shepherd and a clown dog/chihuahua. we have seven cats. siamese inside, barn cats outside. horses, goats, a sheep, a pot-belly pig and a chicken named aunt jemimah.

i don't like anything that bites or stings me. i will kill them if they try.

yeah, i've blown bubbles and caught them in my mouth. everyone does that while daydreaming or just because it's fun. i always want to have fun.

the last time i had a snow cone was at idlewild, our local amusement park. i grew up going to idlewild every summer. i ate a raspberry cone while watching fireworks from the slopes.

a nook? sure...there's plenty of places for you to sleep at robin_hill. it would be your choice.

hey thorn...

i'm usually happy through observation and experience...doing and making things for others, writing, reading...finding where pleasure exists within a moment. constantly defining the highlights of a day...
happiness is always present, like the sun...it just goes behind the clouds from time to time, or sets and then returns...

red tree thanks nicole for the links...great stuff.

hey thorn...when i was a boy, i always wanted a place of my own where i could have lots of animals and make art and build gardens. it takes a lot of time and hard work and especially the presence of family which somehow turns it into some kind of heaven.

unhinged no problem duder. i especially like the worst horse. i noticed noah levine, or who i thought was noah anyways, posted a comment on the hoodie monks article. (handle of meditate and destroy *shrugs*) i really like the punk sangha that i've noticed emerging in the past couple of years. it makes me feel at home.

i've been really excited about these sites but i don't like to bug most of my friends about my buddhist stuff. most of them don't understand and get annoyed and sometimes i feel like i'm working on converting people (which i don't want to do at all). but i thought you might appreciate them.

check out the article 'soto zen now sony zen' on bigredbuddha.com. hehehe

redTree i think all of us are trees of life, for we all contain the seed of the original one in the garden of eden. we have all eaten from the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but it is the tree of life that we stem from, our true family tree. 080317

Bespeckled You're all out-of-the-box and coercive and mysteriously nerdy cool.

What gives?

(That's my informal innnnnerview.)

redTree/cr0wl there is a box i could give you. it's about the size of a shoe box and fits nicely in your hands but is slightly heavy, so you must support it against yourself.

it's handmade from weathered barn wood and decorated with every imaginable color and design, a mosaic of every shape, style, and element of life the mind could conjure. it contains a brass clasp and it's unlocked, but opening it would require months if not years of investigation for its contents are timelessly extensive and individual in scope, vision, imagination, and experience.

however, on the outside of the box, there is a worn, paper tag hanging by a string tied to the leather handle. there are a few words written on it. therefore you could just read the tag and not even open the box.

it says:

surround the world with your self. what is in it, is in you. what is in you, is in it.
