it's that feeling I get like, a jump in my chest anytime I see you just the hint of a glimpse and I was to run and scream and cry and laugh and live everything I am empowered to move mountians and I cannot explain it any other way

i wish i took more. i used to all of the time, but now i've stopped. i had a camera with me on the last few days of school, every friday at roller haven, and randomly throughout the year. i like having pictures to remember things by.

Here's a little picture for your wallet and your mind It's us when we were searching for the blue we couldnt find its us with padded pockets dazzling futures in these unpolluted smiles reality pushed back just by the thinking of the latest styles well im 19 and im catching myself living in the past walls with wiltered polaroids and friends that didnt last and everything was promising is common now i find so heres a little picture for your wallet and your mind its just one of many pictures i must learn to leave behind. Here's a little picture for your wallet and your mind Seems that what we wanted didnt like what we would find seems you didnt listen when i told you what i mean futility is reminiscing jades of velveteen oh the ceaseles feeding of our histories memeories fill our lungs drowning us in different futures down another rung well my voice cracks with the thought of you so innocent and blind so heres a little picture for your wallet and your mind its just one of many pictures i must learn to leave behind John K Samson

Pictures slick as dreams spill From a wooden box Panicked they flutter to the ground As tentacles stuck with suckers Snatch up the wretched thing A school startled by a squid It begins to feast upon the little suppers Stuffing each into its beak Until one sour fish strikes its tongue Then in a flash of ink is gone

"are you okay if i start to take them down?" he asked. "yeah, of course," she said. "i understand. when i spent that first week without you, that was a relief to me, not having pictures of us around." "yeah, and it could get weird if you have a shrine up to the person that you're no longer with." in their once-shared bedroom, a large canvas of their wedding photograph hung. "i'll help you," she said. "we can patch up the wall. or, you could get a new piece of art for there, change the energy of the room." "i was thinking about that," he said.

he took down the canvas from their bedroom, and the wedding photo she kept on her bedside table. their engagement photo still hung, and a honeymoon picture of them smiling on the beach hung out by the books. he had taken down two photo frames from her desk, in a room he never entered, and it bothered her. it may have been his house now, but as far as she was concerned, that space was hers until her belongings were gone.

"i think you're reading into this," he said. "i took the frames from your desk down because it's in a well-seen area." "yeah, but upstairs in your office there are still pictures there," she countered. he sighed. "that's because i'm not ready to take all of them down. i left them because i wanted to."

they live in boxes. in books with rough paper veiled by clear plastic sheets. in dresser drawers. between the worn-down teeth of closets and cupboards. polaroids and wallet prints. candid shots and carefully constructed tableaux. three-dimensional moments made flat and four-by-six and forever. they always feel more real to me when i can touch them. like anything else does.
