blather_don't_be_slow
raze you and your recurring database issues...i swear, if i didn't care about you so much, i'd slather your underoos with icyhot just to get you to move a little faster. 130605
...
raze you are slow no more. huzzah! 130611
...
raze and here we are again. 130705
...
raze you are fast again, again! as someone once said: praise be, rice-a-roni noodlecake. 130722
...
n o m it was pretty killer, in a bad way 130723
...
e_o_i Much better today. And so is blather blue. 130723
...
raze for whatever it might be worth, here is what i've documented so far of this slow and not-slow database business.

started 4.20
fixed 4.23

started 5.4
fixed 5.11

started 5.13
fixed a day or two later

started 5.19
fixed 5.21

started 6.5
fixed 6.11

started 7.5
fixed 7.22

started 7.31
fixed 8.1
started again later the same day
fixed 8.9

started again today, just now
130812
...
raze fixed 8.21 130821
...
raze i don't want to jinx it, but i think this may be fixed once and for all. neither of the blatherspheres have been slow in more than two weeks now, and the infamous three_words have returned (seemingly for good) to blue's front page after being absent for years.

if only a few more people were writin' stuff, we'd be golden.
130909
...
unhinged ssshhh

dont give this finicky one any ideas
130909
...
raze well, there goes that idea. slow again. phooey. 130925
...
raze you were fixed that day or the next, and then you were so good for so long…i hope you're just sleepy right now. here. have a cup of coffee and a danish. 140129
...
raze it worked! maybe i should bring you coffee and a danish every day. 140130
...
e_o_i That's why I was lazy yesterday and didn't write anything. I had my online work and my online volunteering, and then when I clicked on blather and the recent page took a long time to load, I closed it in impatience, shunning and eschewing the computer. But now blather is reasonably accommodating, thank Infinity. 140130
...
raze here's another cup of coffee and another danish. 140218
...
raze well, it worked the first time... 140224
...
pilgrim I cannot load either site on my phone says something about internal server error and won't even let me read recent. I am having withdrawals, and I thought the Captcha was BAD. hope to see you all again, but it is catch as catch can 140224
...
raze ah…sweet relief. 140227
...
raze (that's not me celebrating your inability to blathe, pilgrim; it's happiness that things just now stopped being slow. i wanted to clarify, just in case it came out sounding funny after what you said.) 140227
...
raze looks like i spoke too soon. it stopped being slow for about half an hour, anyway. that's something. 140227
...
raze damnit.

a slow blather is better than no blather, but i swear, sometimes you can be such a tease. fast for a day or two after being maddeningly slow for a week, then back to being slow again.

eat the danish! eat it!

Pilgrim DEAD AGAIN...

Slow as Well on This Borrowed Connection....

My...Mind....Is.....Going......I Can Feel It Dallas.........................I Can Feel It.......
140304
...
raze not to worry, pilgrim...it'll get back to normal again before too long. it always does, one way or another. 140304
...
raze i give up. i can only buy so many danishes before the sugary smell gets to be too much. so go ahead and be slow, blather. do your rebellious teenage thing. i'll be sitting in the kitchen drinking cold coffee, mumbling curse words. 140312
...
pilgrim Ten Days Later, and still no better. It let me in briefly on a test (.)signed in as (.) this is a way not to waste my labor only to have the cave crumble when my inability to decipher the captcha sweeps it All away, but when I tried a serious entry things locked up and would not refresh, but only show the title page or at best an unrefreshed today/yesterday list. From the title page @"blather" I can use the Links to View subsequent Blathes, but all efforts to add come back as "HTTP Error 500 Internal Server Error" or some such...Blue won't Load at all, All I get is the Error Message. I resist trading up to a Newer Phone and Ditching the old "Star Trek" Because apart from the web access I feel more comfortable with its size and familiarity. I'm an Old Dog that wearies of New Tricks. But This Situation is starting to wear Me down 140312
...
departing pilgrim I_wonder_sometimes_if_all_the_long_unerscored_blathes_haven't_overburdened_the_system? I mean that is a fundamental change from what Blather had originally been created as. Just a thought... I don't comprehend coding enough to call it an educated guess. There are still many words that show up unlinked... if this ever comes back again I promise I'll try to use them as points of departure from then on. 140312

raze to bring this up to date:

started 9.25
fixed 9.27

this year so far:

started 1.29
fixed 1.30

started 2.18
fixed 2.27

started again the same day
fixed a time or two for a few hours or a day
here and there
fixed again 3.22

started again today
140324
...
raze fixed 3.26 140326
...
raze slowwwwww againnnnnnn 140327
...
raze i came here to write "fixed yesterday for a bit, now suddenly slow again", and just at this precise moment it started working normally again. now you're just messing with me, blather. 140331
...
raze thirty seconds later, back to being slow again. ha. it used to at least stay fast for a week or two at a time when the issue would temporarily resolve itself. now it's a day here, a few hours there. slow is the new normal.

well, again, a slow blather is better than no blather. so there's that.
140331
...
raze and now it's fast again! blather must have a case of the mondays. 140331
...
raze and slow again. this must be a new record for the most changes in blather speed in one condensed period of time. go for the guinness! go for the gusto! 140331
...
raze fixed 4.2
slow again 4.4
140404
...
e_o_I I saw "guinness" and I thought, Mmm, haven't had some in a long time. I wonder if "gusto" is a drink too? It must be.

O blather, you were so nice yesterday - what happened?
140404
...
raze fixed 4.11

fingers crossed for it to stay fast for at least the weekend this time.
140411
...
raze well, that lasted for all of an hour. it was a nice hour, anyway. 140411
...
raze fixed 4.15

slow again 4.16
140416
...
raze fixed 4.17 140417
...
raze then slow again. 140417
...
raze fixed 4.24, and so far, so good. 140425
...
raze and we're slow again. i predict mild showers on saturday, with a chance of increased speed on sunday. 140425
...
raze i was off by a day (there was a nice chunk of fast blather yesterday). shoulda been a weatherman. 140427
...
raze fixed 4.28, and smooth sailing ever since. 140504
...
raze slow again 5.7.

but there was a nice week and-a-bit of fast blather, which hasn't happened in a while. fast! blather! hope!
140507
...
e_o_i It matches me today. I can never get anything done on Wednesdays. I realize "never" is an exaggeration. 140507
...
raze fixed for a bit on 5.8, but then slow again. 140512
...
raze for three months straight there were no issues at all. hopefully this sudden return to the sluggishness of old is just blather's equivalent of a twenty four hour bug. drink some neocitran, dammit! 140828
...
flowerock *brews some rooibos/nettle/lemon/ginger/honey tea for blather* and have some oregano_oil oo. 140828
...
flux i've rewritten blather in my own image at least 3 times now (though no instance was ever completely finished), so i've some suspicions of why it would suddenly slow to a crawl. i've never read the blather code in depth, though, so i don't know for certain. it's mainly from another age of the_internet, though, so i'm mostly just glad it continues working at all. 140828
...
raze i've communicated with dallas about it (we couldn't have asked for nicer blather gods), and he's told me it's a database issue. something to do with the apache, i think. i don't like to pester him, but i figure i'll give it a few days, and if it stays slow i'll send him a friendly email asking if he wouldn't mind giving it another little poke in the ribs. 140828
...
unhinged for_real

(im just thankful its still here. i stopped handcopying blather years ago. blather is a relic of a much uncooler time on the internet, but its my blather damnit)
140828
...
raze fixed 8.29
slow again today
