nocturnal I can't believe there's someone here that feels almost the same way about nola as I do! it's all love with me, no hate despite the dirt and the poverty and everything else. I must say I do hate the tourists, but they really can't help it if they had the misfortune of being from somewhere else, like poor, poor mikey. what I hate the most are the ones that where beads in, like, september, that really pisses me off. anyway, I'm glad there's someone else, what part are you from, fallen? 010306

brown cardigan boy is wonderful, i love the french quarter. once i went to a flea market there and bout a pair of fake versace glasses. then i walked around with one of my friends. i got stuck in this cafe and then walked by the river. i love the smell and people. the air is humid and reminds me of inexperience. 010307
...
mikey goodness i hate the humidity. TN and ARK was enough for me. EEEEEWWWWW 010307

mikey and yet i really wanna go! 010307

nocturnal well, nola is the most humid place I have ever been. texas is close, but never reaches 100% humidity. nola does that a lot. man I love that place. 010307
...
nocturnal I'll be there in less than 48 hours. I'm counting down the seconds. 010307

nocturnal "The Texas sun beats down upon me like the devil's smile
I'd rather be anywhere else than here.
Was it a blinding lack of subtlety or just a lack of style
responding to the ways and means of fear?
TAKE ME BACK TO NEW ORLEANS and drop me at my door,
cuz I might love you, yeah, but I love me more."

splinken it's a spot on the map that reminds me of the time she and i tried to jump over a cemetary gate. we were too tired.

we tried to tell him off, but all we could really do was stare at him while he took his time waking up.

on an unrelated note, the aquarium of the americas is one of my favorite places.

fallen she has been quiet lately
the calm before the storm....well some would say finding myself referring to those times as "the good_ol_days"
finding myself resenting that thought

no more pirates in Pirate's Alley.......oh sweet John where have you gone? And why did the great lush's of New Orleans dissappear too?
no more wench's dancing on the bar....those luscious ladies

no more hidden embraces in The Dungeon....those smokey rooms no longer a comfort

had to make room for the new breed of dark children.......of shining dancers......of jokers and thieves

ah, yes the good ol quarter days are gone.....

we have now secluded ourselves.....tucked away......hidden in the Garden District

slinging drinks for those who will never understand

the heart still thumps to the erratic pace...at times....wondering....tasting the thrill of yesterday's past

making our own private decay...shadows

..whispers

..afterthoughts

..halfway forgotten

no, we can never go back.....we must slide forward....with narrowed eyes

tucked away...reaching out

misstree 12.22.01

new orleans, i miss you.
i miss your crooked grin and your
raucous laughter and your
warm, foul breath.

i miss the spirals i danced
in your streets, crimson dame,
shouting with joy and baring newfound fangs,
and loving every drop of poison
you offered me.

and now i want you back,
i shake and moan for you,
i chew memories to pulp
just to get the taste of you,
and wistfully dream of more.

you were so much,
so loud and deep and mean
and so blinding with your stolen light
that i forgot
everything
but your desperte kiss.

guitar_freak We decided to go for a drive- a nice long drive from Minnesota to New Orleans. It wasn't Mardi Gras or any special occasion that brought us there. The thrill of an adventure was enough to get me in the car. Once we arrived in New Orleans we discovered that there was a college football game- some championship thing in early January. A bowl game or something. Anyways, by the time we got to the infamous Bourbon Street I had seen more police cars than I could count... somewhere about 60. The beads were flying from windows and porches. I had the biggest smile on my face. The place reeked of piss and beer and good lord did I feel like I was home. The noise, the partying, the police, the smiles... everyone seemed to be living it up. I loved it! The next day we got a much different view of the city. We went to the French Quartier and ate the most awesome breakfast ever! This woman opened a little cafe when she moved from France. She was so great and spoke French perfectly! The food was absolutely amazing and the coffee was fantastic. The little touriste stores were funny, but pretty generic. I loved the open market and Jackson Square. One of the coolest things about that part of the south is all of the bridges. I have never been on such long bridges my entire life! A week before I made the journey, my roommate went to New Orleans and (very) southern Louisiana. her sister stepped on these evil ants that bit the crap out of her and she had to go to the emergency room! Man. You gotta love that state. One adventure after another. 040309

nocturnal I bet that was the Sugar Bowl. LSU kicked OU's ass. I was probably one of the people you saw living it up that night. we sure had fun. I'm glad you did, too. do come back. we'd love to have you. 040310

jane my darling creole love is from new orleans. i have always wanted to go there, to see where he is from, to capture his roots in some cajun spiced food. i want to kiss his lips on bourbon street, because his are the only lips i want to know. and in a way bourbon street becomes his lips, juicy and spicy, as he turns my bottom lip purple 040311

guitar_freak That must have been the game! Everyone was chanting LSU LSU LSU it was so funny! I joined in even though I didn't even know what it stood for until later that night. Man... it is a great city. I want to go back to the bars with all the music. I was able to get in just fine but Anthony got carded because he was a He, but whatever. I would like to just sit in those bars and listen some night. 040411

jinx I want to be there. I love humidity and spicy foods and...oh...everything I've heard about it makes it sound like it'd be perfect for me. 040411

little wonder I was only there for a few short days, but part of me buried itself deep in the french quarter. i've never fallen in love with a city so fast. i hate minnesota summers, heat that sticks to your skin. it's worse there, but it wasn't so bad. i made peace with the louisiana heat. someday i think i'll live there. i don't really see there being much choice in it. 040704

mcdougall Still there.

A great city,
I met some girls who went to Tulane last summer and went down a couple of times to visit. I met a guy on my first trip named Raphael who was from France and we split a joint while walking down the street to a bar.

Still messy
