I don't like to smile in photographs. I wouldn't smile just standing around, so why when you want to remember what things look like. People bare their teeth when they are happy. Doggs bare theirs when they want to bite off a part of your anatomy. Go figure.

it is so easy for a smile to hurt. Like your face will crack into two.

Your smile hugs me from thousands of mile away. If you only knew. Your smile pierces my heart each time I think of it. Your smile is my shield and you are my light. Smile more my brave friend. Your smile makes it all disappear...

It has been over four years Since the day my smile disappeared And my teeth underwent a strategic Reorganization of attitude Four years, and a seven hour surgery Whereupon my jaws moved and realigned And my jaw clenched shut for weeks Liquid being the diet of the day. Four years, and now I can smile I can, but I've quite forgotten how I can smile. I can smile.

you walked past and i saw you, looked at you you were pretty, fresh and slim, with blonde hair and white clothes. quite a looker. you met my gaze and i looked away as always but from the corner of my eye i saw you smile and i wondered what you thought.

I like to smile and I smile a lot. Mine is crooked and sincere, and for all to see. I smile for you, no matter who you are.

Mandy: I don't think I have what you're looking for. Arthur: I think you do, actually. Mandy: Oh, yeah? what makes you say that? Arthur: That smile for one thing. Mandy: Well, smiles lie. Arthur: Exactly.

It's rather self-centered, but humans tend to find smiley-looking animals cute. A Shiba Inu dog, mouth open. A dugong in side profile. They're not necessarily happy all the time, but they look it.

I haven't smiled yet today. I’ve yelled at the dog, peed with a baby on my lap, spilled coffee down the front of my body, thought too intently about politics, felt pleased when the squirrels enjoyed the pumpkin seeds I put out for them, got anxious about the schoolwork I’ve been procrastinating, cried over a list of things my grandmother asked me for before she died; I didn’t have time to bring them to her, contemplated how my soul feels weathered and older than it should, wondered if there is a lesson in here somewhere, came to the conclusion that the breadth of human emotion is fluid and acceptable in all forms, and realized I will smile again soon.
