the china-white bedside telephone could have connected me up with things, but there it sat, dumb as a death's head. i tried to think of people i'd given my phone number to, so i could make a list of all the possible calls i might be about to receive, but all i could think of was that i'd given my phone number to buddy willard's mother so she could give it to a simultaneous interpreter she knew at the u.n.

it rings until i answer it, and everytime without fail a few seconds after i answer it, after it has stopped ringing long enough that someone has either answered or hung up, my roommate will pick up, as if it has just taken him a long time to get to the phone. i just find it strange is all, as to why he'd pick up after so long? or why wouldn't he just answer it?

such a wonderful thing to have. especially when you get a wrong number at around 3am. but that doesnt really matter for an insomniac.
