fairytale
User24 the whole fairytale thing pisses me off.

it assumes that collection of material wealth (the fabled prince) will ensure happiness (the fabled living happily ever after)

while a comforting concept, that happiness can be achieved through physical and not mental effort, it fails to expand upon the happy life the hero and heroine enjoy after the tale, therefore I cannot accept the verity, even within a fictional reality, of these tales.

misstree fairytales are all archetypes. princes are not material wealth but a representative of a mate, especially when you consider that most fairytales date back to medieval times. one of the most common themes is coming of age, usually by finding a mate and leaving the house of the wicked parent-figure, for females, or by adventuring on one's own and defeating an adversary, for males.

not that they're not a load of crap. but i do believe in fairies, i just don't believe in happily ever after. only mostly happily for a while.
