Rhin: Haiku is a small poetry with oriental metricthat appeared in the XVI century and is very popular, mainly in Japan. It's a contemplative poetry that valorizesnature, color, season, contrasts andsurprises. Usually it has 3 lines and 17syllabes distributed in 5, 7 and 5. It must register or indicate a moment, sensation, impression or drama of a specific fact of nature. It's almost like a photo of somespecific moment of nature. More than inspiration, one needs meditation, effort and perception tocompose a real Haiku. (Bill Higginson) 011228 Hyena: i have to agree with whoever it was, very very few of these are haiku. haiku is more than just form; it's a certain way of capturing a feeling, there's the feeling of cherry blossoms suspended timeless, the breath of the world on your neck, brought to mind through simple, subtle constructions. not saying they're bad because they're nothaiku, just saying they're not haiku. 040213 from: haiku
