also known as doodle bugs here in the south. at the first sign of attack/interest, they curl themselves into little chitin-covered balls. they're harmless and feed mostly on decaying matter. but to a child, they are the reason for living... they crawl all over your arms and hands, tickling and feeling about. they make me smile

there are giant ones that live at the bottom of certain parts of the ocean...they weigh nearly ten pounds and are almost 2 feet long...crawling about in the dark feeding on the detritus and debris i love the discovery channel
