As to the first blathe on baptism, doesn't Christian religious lore have it that the non-bodily whatever of the bloke who drowned while plunging in to be baptized went straight to wherever it is that everybody's non-bodily whatevers are always happy and sing? I wish him - or, rather, his non-bodily whatever - luck. Tra-la-la.

Au contraire! Oh, oh you! The word lore you refer to, which also means the space between the eye and nostril of a snake, derives from the Latin word for thong. Haha. The word lore I referred to derives from the Saxon word for reading. I do not believe there is ever much to read between the eye and base of the beak of a bird or the eye and the nostril of a snake. Maybe there is more to read from a thong, on or off. Yet, as much as my dirty mind tries to imagine what that could be, I cannot imagine that it could be very much. There does, though, seem to be considerable to read between the eyes and top of the nose of a human, especially when the human is reading. Maybe that is the connection between the two lores? Tra-la-la.
