BAGHDAD, Iraq - U.S. forces clashed with insurgents north of Baghdad and 10 Iraqis were killed, including four civilians caught in the crossfire, police and hospital officials said.

Twelve Iraqis — most civilians — were wounded in the battle Saturday in Samarra, the Iraqi officials said.

However, Falluja's police chief and a senior officer in the Falluja Brigade in charge of security in the fiercely anti-U.S. town denied that foreign fighters had operated from the house.
