There is nothing that PREVENTS a person from ignoring something that he/she does not like/appreciate or something with which he/she does not agree. But there is neither anything, necessarily, which would PROMPT a person to ignore something that he/she does not like/appreciate or with which he/she does not agree. If somebody does not like blatherreality, sure, there is not one thing that is preventing her/him from ignoring blather completely,...nor is there anything preventing her/him from publicly debating that blatherreality, or making weird faces at that blatherreality, or practicing voodoo on that blatherreality, or, in fact, outright hardkickingtotheshin that blatherreality with all the disagreement and conflicting opinions one can muster. Same goes for blathes and blatherers. Freedom of speech, no? Freedom of opinion? Conflict is what makes things change -- it's what makes things better. Ignoring is by no means the best or most proper way to handle conflict -- although, depending on the outcome sought, it may well be. Ignoring is just one way to handle conflict. And, those ways are many.
