unhinged here in milwaukee they do at a coffeeshop called fuel but i'm pretty sure it's the only place i've ever seen it. if you have ever had mexican hot chocolate that's basically what it is with a shot of espresso.

mmmmmm

spicy, chocolatey, and caffeinated. just how i like it.

bird i've had chocolate bars with cayenne (60% cacao)

I don't know if they sell it where you are, but one of the best starters for mexican hot chocolate is a brand called "Abuelita" (literally, 'grandma/granny')

a compressed hexagon-shaped medallion of dark chocolate, cinnamon and sugar, almost an inch thick and about the diameter of a decent sized coffee mug....ridiculously tasty

you have to dissolve it in milk (or whatever other solution you might be using) while you are heating it. they make and sell it in powder form and in a syrup now, but the old-fashioned time-consuming SOB still tastes the best

I've mixed it with espresso, but never thought to add cayenne

unhinged in high school, a friend's mom made me that kind of mexican hot chocolate bird and i loved it.

but i did think the addition of cayenne to that was pretty genius. i have since added cayenne to brownies (ghiradelli box mix) too which was also bomb.
