in the parking lot you drove, as if ernest hemingway was beside you turning up the pj harvey, and when "this mess we're in" finished, you told him to start it over. and that is when you first saw them, the two girls, and you noticed one was wearing a ringold t-shirt. they walked past you, a blur of beauty, and when you focused, the definition was fine art, why sculptors chisled marble, why painters wet the brush. so the shuttle drives down the hill, picking up others, and when it reaches the drop-off, you stay in your seat, and the two pass you again, and like one who gazes upon a full moon washing the valley with silent light, you stand for three full seconds in a trance, until you can no longer see them.
