A solipsist doesn't necessarily think that the world is an extension of the self, nor that others do not exist. To the best of my knowledge, it is a minority of solipsists who ascribe to those views. But I've conducted no surveys on the matter, not that I trust surveys anyway. Rather, a solipsist believes that only the self can be known and verified; that one's self is the only "reality" ever available to one. Latin "solus" (lone) + Latin "ipse" (self) + ism. Lone-self-ism.
