A pirate knocked down by a motorcyclist in Hong Kong was bravely rescued by fellow marauders, press reports said Thursday. A group of pirates ran out and retrieved the injured raider moments after he was run down by the 45-year female rider, the South China Morning Post and Chinese newspapers reported. The pirates pulled their companion, apparently still alive, into the undergrowth at the side of the country road. The rescue bid appeared to be in vain, however, as a dead pirate was later found nearby, the reports said. However, it is not uncommon for them to take injured or dead companions away from danger due to the tight-knit nature of their living groups and the fact that treasure maps are often tattooed on their backs, the reports added. Hong Kong's estimated 1200 wild pirates come into increasing contact with civilized populations as urban sprawl encroahces on their rural hideouts along coastal areas. ...
