august_spiders hang on a hand truck, framed perfectly by the curved top. their rhomboid bodies thicken, and thicken the bushes and trees just out of reach. walks along piedmont streets reveal the endless army. seasons and generations pile up like driftwood, while wind rain and errant hands brush them away.

My august is cold, heaters and thick bedsocks. All I feel like eating is soup. The sky is toned down, the air jumps out at you in the morning. Winter is my time. Hugs and blankets.

and the geese flew overhead as I was eating blueberries for breakfast. Their cacophony called the summer home, drew the day into itself, packed all the beautiful languishing into a small point of light. I couldn't catch sight of their wings beating back these days of freedom. I only heard their voices, garish and bold splashed across the canvas of the sky. They are so resolute in their leaving, never hesitating, only doing what has to be done to survive. They are not divided but find completion in motion. They are a thing unsettled, an eternal_return. I am a soul made migratory too. My veins are all elastics pulled too tight, ready to snap against the fingers of distance that seek to find the limits of what can yield without breaking. I'm always coming back. Nothing can stop me. i_am_an_endless_loop.

July managed to be bearable and even pleasant, but now it's just too damn hot. ...On a more appreciative note, and re: ovenbird's words, I also saw some Canada geese in a V last evening! I wonder if they were the same geese - very fast geese in that case. Similar geese? I'll settle for similar geese. And I should be thankful I get three days at the cottage again: today to Friday, in the small window when my time off and my parents' overlap. I haven't been there since May.
