150, O . The USA invaded Nicaragua when we were 150, and transmitted the first television image. Happy Patriotism!

Nations are imagined communities - making big nets out of small networks. Oh yeah! I saw some fireworks last night. But the film of The Fellowship of the Ring has ruined fireworks for me; I keep thinking, "Why can't they make them look like dragons?" Or Canadian flags. Or cultural genocide of indigenous peoples, I dunno. But that would be depressing. A leaf on a blanket surrounded by curtains is much more reassuring. Or is it? What's wrong with that leaf? Is it on a hospital bed? Is it dying? Maybe it's already dead and in a morgue. Or in a coffin. A white-lined coffin and the curtains are drawing it away from view, closing it off from the land of the living. (I have a morbid sense of flags.)

You've decided winters should be cold. All right. I have a scarf and I know how to use it.
