With nimble steps danced paws at dawn in verdant embrace is a life now gone, once leaping and dancing like leaves on a breeze, will she at last rest in nature's ease? At night 'neath the moon's wane dim haunting glow, something quietly stirs where deep shadows grow — a whisper of memory, a small spectral sight, a lingering presence on this hallowed night. Her body has vanished, yet there I find still some ghostly presence, with which ethereal thrill strikes to my heart, so with hushed joy I exclaim "Here you are, friend!" to a shadow so tame. The sharp snap of tree branches stirs me at long last, I blink and the shadow is not the one that she cast. Mourns softly my heart, as night turns to day No more will I see see her living or scamper away. But glimmers there still a light at bottom — her essence is gone, but it is not forgotten. As dawn rises bright and the night slowly wanes, within me her memory forever remains.
