black_friday
Sonya I currently work in retail and today was probably the worst day out of the whole year.

The whole concept of the "door busters" sale is beyond my comprehension. Barely after we've digested our Thanksgiving feasts we find ourselves lining up in the bitter cold at 4 a.m. in the morning so that we can rush into the stores and buy all this crap (yep) our kids won't even touch next year.

Okay maybe I'm exaggerating...afterall I'm supposed to be convincing everyone to buy this stuff.

I myself will do anything to avoid shopping on this day because of the wrangling and fighting. I have witnessed people ripping toys out of each other's shopping carts and even their bare hands. I have seen security guards being called in to drag unruly customers out of the doors.

So much for Thanksgiving...while some of us are thankful for the roof over our heads and being able to eat something more substantial than McDonald's or top Ramen, other people are willing to wake up at 3 a.m. to go shopping. WHY?!!!!!

I remember Christmas of last year... I spent most of that time praying that the man I love would make it home safe and sound (he did.) All I want for Christmas this year is to be able to spend time with the people I love - I know what it's like to not have even that.

Black Friday is an example of everything that is wrong with Christmas in America these days. Thank goodness it's over (for now...)

is very weary.
