venison
Carcharodon Carcharias there are two things that affect the taste of venison, one, i've been told (but don't totally believe for lack of a complete explanation of the how and why of it) depends on how carefully it is butchered and the other depends on it's food source

since wild game eats a less consistent diet, the residual tastes of their primary feed source affects the way they in turn will taste

the strong taste of wild animal meat is sometimes described, appropriately enough, as "Gamey." The elimination of this taste was likely an unplanned benefit of standardizing the feed of domesticated meat, but this goes back to IKC's point about inefficient use of proteins

I just got done watching a tape of some relatives taking a bite out of some researcher on the Discovery Channel. Man, that was good times.

knock knock knock... candy-gram, heh-heh-heh
