four_eyed_monsters
crOwl a remarkable indie film that combines several facets of art/communication to give a relationship deeper substance, purpose, meaning, and definition.

by all means check out the website and sign on to have the film play in a major city near you. it's a do it yourself approach at distribution that is setting an exciting new precedent.

plus...my youngest daughter greta, who saw the nyc film release at the ifc center and attended the after party in the bowery is a film student at sva and is going to appear in their newest podcast...so you HAVE to check it out, y'all.

one wrecked angle the trailer didn't grab me, but then i started watching the podcasts. i just watched the third one, and i think i'll be attending this coming thursday's screening. i'm going on a first date this evening with someone who seems a very passionate creative person. she and i consume life in a similar way. maybe if we make it through the first date, we'll go to the movie together. tapas and dancing and talk of trees await. maybe more. 060923

ever dumbening crOwl,

thanks for the link. total last minute score. i went with my friend helen. we both thought it was great. we both wished we would have known about it further in advance, so we could've told more people about it. but maybe we can keep generating the buzz so that the next set of screenings can occur. i'll throw a word onto blue, for this is most definitely a film for skites.

crOwl thanks james...glad to know you saw it...this is a pioneer effort and it's very exciting to be a part of something, even if it's a small part, as new ground is being plowed... 060929

ever dumbening went again last night. they had a pretty wide-spread release last night, and a few more cities have shows over the next couple weeks.

it really is a very well-made film. and combined with the podcasts, and the method of distribution, it's a pretty amazing whole. the number of levels on which the entire package resonates with me is powerful.

seeing it a second time was a trip, especially since i hadn't gotten completely caught up on the podcasts when i first saw it. so it was interesting to see the all the folks in the film around whom the drama was swirling outside of the film.

i actually was a on a "date" last night, and it was fun to break it all down with her afterwards. she's even more analytical and in her head than i am (about where i was when i was her age; woohoo, younger women!), so we had some good dialogue about dating and self-expression.

between this and the_gates_central_park_ny_1979_2005, you've dialed me in to some pretty intense experiences, kev. i wonder what the next kfz to jnk incidental offering will be, what doors will open (right now i just need a new pad and a new job, hehe).

crOwl i still have the blather head/tails coin you made for me and the driftwood whale....treasuring them like a collector with his precious art...
i'm praying that you get that new job and home by next year, james. kathy and i are coming to san francisco in march of 2oo8. we should hook up in berkeley. we'll treat you to dinner at chez panisse, allowing alice waters to indulge our tastebuds and stimulate our senses.

my daughter, who's a film student at sva in grammercy hung out with the couple that made four_eyed_monsters. she's on the flyer distribution team for nyc. believe it or not, i'm looking forward to seeing it for the first time. i agree with you about their delicate, intelligent handling of the film. it's innovative and writing the textbook for those seeking to independantly make a film worthy of sundance.

ever dumbening okay red skites, you are my witnesses. dinner at chez panisse on k & k. i guess that means i should stay around here until then. not that i have concrete plans to leave the bay, but this heaving transition is shaking the brain cells a bit. options abound. 070216
