the next (equinoctial?) project i've dreamed up is visits to 10 art galleries. i have only a vague idea of what i'll be doing there. perhaps i will pair this with visits to the postered hallways of 10 laboratories. i mine the old, sometimes.

Mostly I am a painter/carpenter, I build things nessesary for the Exhibits. Seeing how the Traveling Exhibitions are constantly changing I never run out of work. It also gives me a perspective on the Transient nature of things, a stark contrast to our Mission Statement, "to preserve works of Art for the Benefit of The People of Jacksonville as well as for the Future Generations." but don't hold me to that Quote. But yeah, it is a cool place to work, Close to home (3 min. by bicycle) Climate Controled Space (a real plus in Florida) And I get to Do all sorts of interesting projects.(right now I'm making 3,840 3/4 in.X3/4 in. unglazed ceramic tile, to replace tile that has become lost from the wall in the courtyard, being unable to find any with a glaze to match, the exhibition designer has decided to glaze his own, once I make them. 2,111 down 1'629 to go.

Sutter St. in S.F. Sometimes I'd walk up and down that street to catch the bus and I'd look in on all the numerous galleries with their artworks waiting to be adored. It was always a sad thing whenever I saw one completely empty....toys that never get played with....or pets that never get adopted.

they exist inside your mind, oh, godlike painter of light. they swim inside your head, and pour out through your eyes and fingertips snap snap snapping as your art flows out your eyes and through your lense your paintbrush is a black camera, and your halo is a flash of inspired light in a dark room or on a dark night in the perfect condition, at the perfect angle. You, angelic in all your artistry and beauty, paint that perfect piece of art, captured in that single perfect moment. You breathe life with your hands and your eyes.

we went to the guggenheim in nyc last saturday. we saw picasso's black and whites. stunning from the distance of this spiraling frank lloyd wright masterpiece. i would lean over and tell kathy how amazing it would be if there were a set of people who would go left on one level and on the next level go right, both as fast as they could walk...and do it all the way up. it cost $22 each. holy christ. oh well. picasso was in the right place at the right time. still creating a stir the motherfucker.
