John Denver, Andrew Lloyd Weber, Billy Joel, and George Gershwin. Cross dressing, all night Vicadin fueled rock armadas, karaoke, and Jagermeister. Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. These are a few of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes favorite things With an all-star line-up including members of Lagwagon and NOFX, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes creates tounge-in-cheek covers of '60s easy listening standards such as John Denver's "Country Roads" and Barry Manilow's "Mandy." Me First puts a humoursly punk slant on some of rock's least rocking songs, taking the "punk it up" attitude to its ridiculous extreme. While flawlessly translated into a punk format, the band's sound is based more on novelty than on innovation.
