A bit of one from my notebook, from England: The lovely waters drive, the nether shores arrive. ...It was supposed to be a lyric from Phantom of the Opera, which I saw in London. The rhythm sounded lulling, but "nether" struck me as potentially and goofily dirty.

Yesterday, I took a nap after the last of the craft show. I couldn't fall asleep right away, so read from my Ogden Nash book until my eyes were tired. My sleeping brain concocted two lines in his style. I forget them, but I remember "ragamuffin" rhymed with "wagawumpus." (Both seem like words Nash might use, but not rhyming with each other! He played slow and loose with rhythm, but his rhymes were generally the complete kind.)
