She's well acquainted with the touch of the velvet hand Like a lizard on a window pane. The man in the crowd with the multicoloured mirrors On his hobnail boots Lying with his eyes while his hands are busy Working overtime A soap impression of his wife which he ate And donated to the Nation Trust.

I wonder should I call you but I know what you'd do You'd say I'm putting you on But it's no joke It's doing me harm, you know I can't sleep I can't stop my brain, you know it's three weeks I'm going insane You know I'd give you everything I've got for a little peace of mind

truly a strange totem pole of an album, fueled by unchecked ego to the highest order. I'm glad Ringo came back, in the end. it's a miracle they were able to get on well enough in 69 to make Abbey after all the incredibly bitter division of 68. by 'totem pole' I mean if you rank all the white album's songs from best to worst, the first 10 songs are immaculate shiny treasures, some of the best and most valuable music ever made. the next 10 songs are pretty good, even by golden age beatles standards they hold up and are very enjoyable. the last 10 songs are reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal rough. a whole buncha "nobody's going to tell you this sucks because nobody can tell you anything because everybody just assumes everything you do is brilliant including you." this sentiment applies equally to John and Paul. I'll give you everything I've got for a little peace of mind.
