flux hipsters?
cafes..
strada, au coquelet, nefeli..
there are few bars to speak of, berkeley's kind of like that.. but you could try le bateau ivre instead.
probably find some at that pfa theatre.
and i'm sure that the uc campus is full of them.

crOwl yeah...the original intention was to take the train to san francisco and then drive to napa and berkeley and then up to seattle. but, due to time restrictions and money now needed for greta's tuition at sva in nyc, we are headed to seattle only.

how long were you in seattle? what were you doing there?

what is cheerwine?

do you remember any particular venues to see local indie bands?

what is your seattle connection to "a?"

flux i've been in seattle four times. march 2000 for about 1 week, may or june 2000 for about 1 week, march 2005 for 2 days, and july 2005 for 2 days. the first couple of times where to meet up with a, (amy, whirligirl, et al.), who i met on blather. the 2005 trips were to visit a friend from the berkeley co-ops who moved up there.

mostly, what i did was hang out and walk around. the first couple of trips i was under 21, and the last two trips i was accompanied by a friend under 21, and had lost my id, respectively. these things meant i couldn't get into many shows. during the march 2005 trip i did manage to get into burning man party in the warehouse district, but i'm not sure they do regular events.
i second amy's advice of finding a copy of the stranger if you want to find a show, though.

cheerwine is a soda (or "pop", or "coke") that seems to be most popular in the south and certain places on the east coast. it tastes.. unique. the only other place i've seen it on the west coast is at bevmo.

redTree what are you living for?
what would you die for?
what would you kill for?

redTree you have been chosen as the world's new super hero, but you can possess only one power that you must select from the following two choices...

1. the ability to fly
2. the ability to be invisible

which one do you choose? why?
what will you call yourself?

flux i live for myself. i die for myself. i kill for myself.

the subtlety in this answer mostly lies in how i identify "myself".

flux i feel i encountered the super-power question (or something quite similar to it) in an autopsychoanalysis book for adolescents i read while young. one's answer was used as a lead in to the idea of introverts and extroverts.. but even at that age that resolution bothered me. i had a sense that superpowers that increased ones physical abilities were severely limited when those powers only applied to a single physical being. even though i was fairly classically introverted, i was much more interested in the idea of powers that could be used to improve ones standings in a social context.

if i were allowed an arbitrary superpower, i'd choose something like what green_rapture is in the schismatrix: unlimited focus.

flux "what will you call yourself"

i call myself flux. i'll continue to do so until and unless i find something more fitting.
