02:40am 07/03/2004 When you were young you were the king of carrot flowers and how you built a tower tumbling thru the trees in holy rattlesnakes that fell all around your feet and your mom would stick a fork right into daddys shoulder and your dad would throw the garbage all across the floor as we would lay and learn what each others bodies were for and this is the room one afternoon I knew I could love you and from above you how I sank into your soul into that secret place where noone dares to go and your mom would drink until she was no longer speaking and dad would dream about the different ways to die each one a little more than he could dare to try

2014, they played 2 shows in New_Orleans on a "reunion_tour" (read: "we need to sell some shirts and tickets and make some quick money." I went both nights. Similar but not identical setlists. Night 1 was better, the energy was palpably comunally dark. Oh_Comely. At "know all your enemies" every single person on the standing room only floor in front of the stage were stomping their feet where Jeff palm strikes the body of his guitar in the song. One of the most chilling and unforgettable crowd experiences ever. I'm glad I went the 2nd night though. I rough drafted a very tough and important piece on my phone while I was waiting for the show to start. And they closed the set with Engine on Night 2. That was special.

As of March 2017 I am, bittersweetly, no longer a New_Orlenean. Terrible job market and termite infested infrastructure and the majority of it is below sea level and the wetlands that might have protected it from hurricane season have been all but completely destroyed and almost everything about living there is assbackwards as hell. But big big pieces of my heart are still there and though I wouldn't move back, those years will never leave me.

Oh, to address the question it was at the then-newly renovated Civic Theater. Got to see Tedeschi-Trucks (overrated) and Lucero (underrated) there as well, probably a few more acts I'm forgetting.
