we now live in a world where the president of the united states says he's considering allowing teachers to carry guns in an effort to prevent future school shootings. as if teachers killing students will somehow make things better. as if making firearms MORE accessible is the answer. it makes me glad i don't have any kids. because how on earth would you try and explain this to them?

after the last one my country does not care about me or my neighbors or their kids my government would rather protect the sales of gun manufacturers while the media broadcasts shaved headed teenage girls giving emotional speeches and breaking down in tears and grown men argue that they have the right to own military grade weapons and twenty more people die there are 300 million guns in america there are 340 million people in america not adults, but people americans are 4% of the world's population but americans own 42% of the world's guns cnn has a 'town hall' about gun control where the head bitch lawyer from the NRA spews platitudes about how the NRA doesn't want people to die to the same shaved headed teenage girl that is now being trotted out on every cables news outlet the insane motherless child that killed seventeen of her classmates was trained in marksmanship by the NRA

(the president of the united states took millions of dollars from the NRA for his campaign so he says maybe teachers should have guns like any good republican politician that takes money from the nra. this country is despicable)

(well, one of my facts may be wrong...the shooter in florida was part of the JROTC program at his school which is basically a military training program and that is where he learned how to shoot. maybe the JROTC in that state is funded by the NRA. maybe it isn't. either way, the absurdity of teaching kids how to be soldiers and then wondering why they murder 17 of their classmates especially after they post comments on youtube about how they are going to be a professional school shooter some day is totally subsumed by lobbyist attorneys and politicians clamoring and yammering about protection and rights while somehow managing to overlook the fact the protection and rights of 17 children was ended that day, that somehow the right of some crazy gun nuts to own assault weapons is more important than the right of all those children to LIVE...my disgust and sadness both are overwhelming. there is no common sense in this country. both sides are whipped up into ideological frenzies that blind them to the truth on either side and it is not an exaggeration to say that tens of thousands of people in this country die every year because of it. but that's the price every citizen in this country has to pay to defend against tyranny. while the government takes away more of our civilized rights every day...no sense. but all the crazies will rally behind the gun issue while not giving two shits about our surveillance state or the torture facility we operate in the middle of the ocean. or the american citizens we kill with drones in the middle east. i feel like i am drowning in a tsunami of stupidity, ignorance, insanity, violence, and hatred. i feel like my government perpetuates all of this things to keep the rich obscenely and immorally wealthy while the rest of us suffer in poverty and fear. land of the free and home of the brave...what a fucking joke)

as a teacher, teachers don't need guns. neither do teenagers. and while we're at it, cops and students don't need to be militarized either but gun control is a lost cause in this country. maybe it's time for me to find a new country
