ello raze supposedly this is what will usurp facebook, or at least offer some stiff competition. it's invitation only for now, like gmail was at first, because the best way to get people interested in a thing is to tell them they can't have the thing unless they know someone else who has the thing (which begs the question: how did *they* get the thing?). then, once it's become popular enough, you make the thing accessible to everyone. i like the LGBT-friendly angle. the design is much more pleasing to the eye than the whole "a blog vomited a week's worth of stuff all over the place" thing facebook has going on these days. and not mining your personal information for their own nefarious purposes is a nice touch. but is it really anything more than an alternate take on facebook by way of tumblr? none of these social networking things have ever been half as interesting to me as this place right here and its older blue sister. i feel more connected here even when no one is saying anything, and i rarely say anything that has any real meaning to me anymore on facebook or even on my personal blog. maybe ello will be different. i don't know. i'm trying it out, thanks to an invite from a friend. if you'd like to try it out too, let me know. 140929 ... leif find me! mae-collins 140929 ... raze you've been found! i'm remorse_code (but with a dash where the underscore is), because … well, because i couldn't think of anything wittier than that. 140929 ... epitome of incomprehensibility I looked it up and the stories going on around it are interesting, especially how it jumped in with the name openness when fb was reporting not just drag queens but also trans people for having names different from their original ones.
