it was a happy day when i learned the em dash could be used on blather. there's an elegance about it that a regular old en dash doesn't possess, to my eyes. see - this is alright. it does the job. but this right here — this is a dash that means business. something about it just looks pleasing to me. something about the length and heft of it. i forgot about "heft", too. that's a great word. a physical word. it sounds like a hard shove, doesn't it? "out of the way! HEFT!"

you gotta copy it from a word document or somewhere on the internet (you could probably even copy it from what i wrote initially in this blathe). and when you drop it in the "says" box, it looks like a normal dash, only slightly, almost imperceptibly longer. but once you hit the "blather" button, it becomes...magic em dash!

…comme la cédille, c’est ça, et l’accent aigu, et l’accent grave à écrire d’une façon très grave, et tout cette jazz. Aussi l’accent circonflexe comme un p’tit chapeau sur la tête d’un mot. Donc alors, j’essaie le, euh, le « em dash » Voilà—le em dash! Magique!
