epitome of incomprehensibility

It's pretty sad that this was the highlight of my day, right? I mean, it was kind of special. I've never gotten stung by a wasp before. I was moping, feeling stuck, when Mom and Dad invited me to dessert at Les Delices de la Gare in Valois. That promised a walk. We could bring the dog, sit on the terrasse. This happened - and I got a fancy sort of s'more, topped with chocolate-drizzled mini marshmallows - but as we were leaving the place a yellow and black insect landed on my left wrist and got caught between my skin and watch strap. "Emergency! I am trapped! Deploy the butt-dagger," thought the wasp, or so I imagine it. The initial pain was the worst: a sharp stab to the nerves. I screeched. After that, it wasn't so bad. As we walked home, I indulged my scientific curiosity in watching a circular bump swell up around the red bite site. It looked like my arm was growing an extra breast. A very tiny tit. I took a picture to show David later. "A new genre of selfie: the stingie," my dad dad-joked. My mother advised me to dip my arm in water mixed with baking soda. "Vinegar?" I asked, distracted. "No! Baking soda." But by the time we were home, the swelling had already started to go down and I didn't put anything on it.

i feel awful for laughing at your pain, but the bit about your arm growing a breast made me cackle. i'm glad you had a better reaction than i did. i was only stung by a wasp once, when i was a kid, and i'm pretty sure it ended in hospitalization. i'm also pretty sure there was ice cream after, when i didn't die. so, you know, it wasn't all bad...

It was also funny by accident! "It looked like my arm was growing an extra breast" seems to imply that my arm already has breasts. Way to hide that I'm secretly a shapeshifting alien. (Oh dear, did I reveal my species' secret? It's okay, we're only here for the bubble_tea.) But seriously, yes, I'm lucky I don't have severe allergies to things. I hope you weren't too scared back then and that the ice cream was comforting.
