cancelled
epitome of incomprehensibility Alas, Cancel Culture (TM) has develeoped a variant - Cancel Language. Intermediate German this summer isn't happening because not enough people signed up.

Sighhhh...Any other time I could take the class would be inconvenient, and this whole change is an upset to my plans.

The best-laid plans of Canaduckians, eh?

But grrr. Can't take Spanish, the other language I want to learn; today, the department secretary got back to me suggesting Russian.

Russian? Now, I'm not about to blame the Russian language for Putin's actions or for War and Peace being too long, it's just that I have no reason to study it now. My idea wasn't to just take a language for credit, but to learn how to read/speak the ones I want to learn and retain long-term: German and Spanish specifically.

e_o_i The subject line of my email to David: "Of GERM and germs" (GERM is the course code of German courses, but I wasn't calling Germans names - the other thing was about saying I didn't have to have a COVID test to travel back to Canada anymore) 220608

e_o_i I was trying to remember whether I spelled this word with one L or two.

The pride parade in Montreal was cancelled, apparently because there weren't enough volunteers? I was thinking of going there with J., or maybe going somewhere else with J. if she thought it too capitalist or tiring or anything.

I got ice cream with Mom and Dad and Shiloh and then it rained. I mostly stayed stuck in front of a fan making bead rings and watching YouTube.

e_o_i (no shame on my friend for not getting back to me, because I didn't give her enough notice, just suggested it yesterday - didn't check the weather either) 220807

tender_square the teller told me that my credit card account had been cancelled. "did you frequently pay off your balance to zero?" she asked. i nodded. as she spoke on the phone with card services, they collectively wondered whether the card had no transactions run for more than two years. "the account shows as being open in my online banking; it still appears as being available in my credit report; you sent me this new card in the mail earlier this year, which i activated but has never worked." they're investigating when i hadn't authorized the close, when the span of 24 months had not come to pass without use. i suspect i won't be able to regain this card back. i sat patiently in an open air office, rattling off the facts of who i am, where i work, what i make, how long i've been a customer, while another teller took copious notes. "there is no where in the system to put in your providence," she mispoke," or a zip code with letters." next week they will adjudicate on whether to issue credit to a customer they'd previously it to before suddenly rescinding. for now, i carry a worthless plastic rectangle in my wallet. 230701
