epitome of incomprehensibility Apparently German is the language with the most vowel sounds.

Okay, qualifiers: if you count vowel lengths and DON'T count phonemic tone differences like in Cantonese (why wouldn't you, though?), German is the language with the most vowel sounds. Of all that are currently known and recorded, anyway.

My adventures in learning German: immer_immersion for being in Germany and whereabouts.

raze i have nr to thank for introducing me to my favourite german word, now and forever:

krankenwagen.

that's what they call an ambulance. i can't explain why saying it out loud makes me happy. but it does.

e_o_i Ahaha I remember that one. Sick car! Literally(ish).

My favourite German compound noun is Eisbär, meaning polar bear. It's literally "ice bear" and it's pronounced almost exactly the same - but say it in a British accent, so the "r" at the end doesn't sound (much).

"Eis" by itself is ice, but also ice cream or popsicle.
