german
epitome of incomprehensibility
Apparently
German
is
the
language
with
the
most
vowel
sounds
.
Okay
, qualifiers:
if
you
count
vowel lengths
and
DON'T
count
phonemic
tone
differences
like
in
Cantonese (
why
wouldn't
you
,
though
?), German
is
the
language
with
the
most
vowel
sounds
.
Of
all
that
are
currently
known
and
recorded
,
anyway
.
My
adventures
in
learning
German:
immer_immersion
for
being
in
Germany
and
whereabouts.

i
have
nr
to
thank
for
introducing
me
to
my
favourite
german
word
,
now
and
forever
:
krankenwagen.
that's
what
they
call
an
ambulance
.
i
can't
explain
why
saying
it
out
loud
makes
me
happy
.
but
it
does
.

Ahaha
I
remember
that
one
.
Sick
car
!
Literally
(ish).
My
favourite
German compound noun
is
Eisbär,
meaning
polar
bear
.
It's
literally
"
ice
bear
"
and
it's
pronounced
almost
exactly
the
same
-
but
say
it
in
a
British
accent
,
so
the
"
r
"
at
the
end
doesn't
sound
(
much
).
"Eis"
by
itself
is
ice
,
but
also
ice
cream
or
popsicle.
