my theory: heat makes everything expand slightly, Ja? whereas coldness makes things contract. OK, so when you cold food, your tongue contracts more, therefore less taste receptors are exposed to the food, hence you taste it slightly less, however with hot food you tongue expands, more taste receptors are exposed, and thus your brain is exposed to more of the taste, so the food tastes richer and flavoursome! three cheers for hot food.
