i think this will always be my favourite neil young album. "see the sky about to rain" is already a poem before he sings a word. "ambulance blues" and "for the turnstiles" are two songs i wish would never end, for very different reasons. and the title track never fails to land. "though my problems are meaningless, that don't make them go away. i need a crowd of people, but i can't face them day to day."

epitome of incomprehensibility

To me, this is a novel with a disappointing ending. Not just the whole nuclear destruction thing, but also the main character's wife acting like such a conventional sop while he's all thoughtful. Women are capable of thinking about politics, Nevil Shute. But I cherish it for my early illusion that the writer was related to me and the part about Antarctica (even if disappointing).

I did put it on for See the Sky. No offense to Walk On, I only skipped you this once. My roommate actually doubled back on See the Sky and let it play again while I was in the bath. If I have to be in the interior bathroom, might as well take advantage of the circumstances. Remind me of why my back hurts so much. But to my surprise, Rev Blues fit much better. The tornado sirens were perfectly on key. To my very slight surprise, Turnstiles was better suited to the mood. Vampire will never be my favorite but I let it play. The worst of the threat has passed us by now. All around us, 50 miles southeast, 20 miles north, 200 miles northwest, new warnings popping up like kernels. Some good people bracing for another wave. Not exactly a peachy mood on the beach today. I sit with the title track for a long time, longer than the length of it. I marinate in it. Motion Pictures spins my head around like always. And I'll never be allowed to forget the genius of ambulance. Power cutting in and out. Trees will be lost, and more. The only 2 motherfuckers in the world that are truly undefeated: father_time, and mother_nature. Sometimes the best beginnings also make for great endings, and vice-versa. Loop back around to the beginning. Survive. Walk On. Thanks. I was powerless. That was great.

the title track just always seems to be a recurring theme.
