she spread red glitter all over the place and it was in my eyelashes. we went to the record store and the owner was nice to me for the first time and he traded me a CD. i got Tom Waits. i'm really starting to like tom waits a lot, and i like bluesy stuff now, it is calming and before now i would have never had the patience to listen to anything with such groove. we went to Publix and i bought a box of animal crackers for 99 cents, why are they that much? they're making animal crackers bigger now, and more detailed, maybe that's why. but they taste better now. i dunno. and at the bookstore while waiting for our ride she and i laughed and laughed over a Cosmopolitan. because every single issue of Cosmopolitan is exactly the same. 85 ways to please your man, 65 ways to please your man, 100 ways to please your man. yatta yatta yatta orgasm yatta yatta yatta tricks in bed yatta yatta yatta. it's just so funny. a man i saw at symphony hall works there and i recognized him immediately. we went to the soccer games tonight. more people showed up for the guys' game probably because it was later, i saw so many people i haven't kept in touch with and it was weird, why do some girls wear short skirts and heels to the stadium? why were they wearing short shorts when it was freezing outside? no one buys clothes that fit. you cant recognize anyone at first because their faces are caked in makeup and their hair is highlighted. everyone! frosted hair. that used to be a suburban soccermom thing. eh, maybe it still is. fake smiles and giggly waves. AH!!! it was terrible, for a while until everyone from the other school went to cheer on their side of the stadium, and jessie and i were standing there in overtime and i was shivering uncontrollably my bottle of water sloshing, looking around, and it was wonderful because people were cheering, everyone was smiling and having fun and rosy-cheeked and something about being in the midst of all those teeth and all that grinning and laughter, even if i dont care about half of these people, it was just a very large feeling.

you should check out "swordfishtrombones", "rain dogs" and "franks wild years" if you haven't already. a great trilogy. probably the apex of tom's junkyard orchestrations.
