there is a certain phenomenon that occurs at the exact moment of the sun’s final plunge into the sea during a cloudless sunset in the cayman islands. it is simply a split second flash of brilliant green, seen by few, yet talked about by many. legend has it that those who see the ‘green flash’ will never be fooled in matters of the heart. ******** it is a balmy, humid friday evening. each of the two holds a sweaty glass of patz and hall chardonnay, while they stand at the edge of the lanai to watch the amazing technicolor display in the sky over the gently lapping azure sea. it is mind-blowing to experience a sunset that turns the backdrop of the evening into such a brilliant yet abstract masterpiece of watercolors without the benefit of a single cloud. as a steel drum band in the distance accompanies the evening island sounds, they hold each other close enough to experience two hearts beating as one. the breeze is barely a whisper, yet the hibiscus blooms silently tumble off the edge and float six stories down to their resting place on the sugary white sand. and so they wait. and they watch. the slow minutes silently transform into lightning quick momentum as the sun makes its final pass across the horizon, that fine distinction of air meeting sea. and then, suddenly, it appears. the brilliant ring of neon green. the symbol of infinity. perhaps a gateway to time without end. and just as fast, it is gone, leaving them breathless with wonder, simply punctuated with the sweet embrace that offers living proof to the legend.

(i literally just read about the green flash for the first time last night, in this nonfiction i have been sucked into. the author of the book dedicated quite a bit of time to explaining why the flash occurs, and about his experiences in a certain isolated island in Indonesia. can this be a strange coincidence? or are there no coincidences?)

since there are too many (especially lately) to ignore, i must say that there are coincidences, for sure, but they simply cannot be accidental. this cayman_flash story was a very vividly detailed dream. there is a message in each coincidence, but for me, figuring that part out is the biggest challenge. is it synchronicity??? can you share the title/author of the book, by the way?

it's called "gifts of unknown things" by lyall watson i'm about halfway through it and it's churning my brain and emotions already. hard to believe it's nonfiction. it moved me to tears at one point. perhaps if you read it you can guess what point it is. actually meant to recommend this to K. but i'm not one to recommend books until i've finished reading them... :)

(i prefer to believe that there is no such thing as coincidence, only cosmic incidence or karmic_entanglement )
