for the iced coffee, i brew it on half instead of full, so it won’t overflow in the pitcher. and i do it in the pitcher because it’s easier to refrigerate. typically, once i empty the pitcher in the carafe, i brew another one and get it in the fridge so it’s ready when we’re empty. did you want to help me put away these office supplies? they go in a few places; here, in the backroom, and in the supply closet. you’re going to beat me on opening these post-it’s, the wrapper is coming off in little pieces for me. so, for the pencils, we want to take them out of the packaging and stock them. the mints go in the supply area—we go through a lot of them each day, people take handfuls. oh, look at that; i’m going to need to order more coke and diet coke. the fridge in the chair’s conference room is stocked, i just checked it last week so we should be in good shape, though i’m sure we’ll go through more once we start holding more meetings in-person again. if you need me to get you anything, let me know, i order all the time. so for the packaging, we looking for one of two numbers, a six-digit number that starts with a 2, or a longer number that starts with a 3. i don’t know why there are two different ones, each order will have that, but you can search with either. if i can’t find the six digit, then i go for the bigger number. then i write the name of the person, the date, and the package number in the notebook and on the box. because we get a lot of packages, i tend to write it on the slimmest side, that way we can store more on the shelves. and i always put it on the sides, and not the top of the boxes, that way labs can easily find their stuff. when we put it on the shelves, i always group the names together. if anything really heavy comes in, don’t hurt yourself trying to pick it up, we have dollies for that. here, let me show you where we keep them. there’s no mail for me to show you, because i did it already this morning. but we get the mail for our department and for the math department. these lists were recently updated and tell you everyone who’s here; blue is faculty, yellow is post-docs, red are admins, pink are labs, orange are grad students, and green are for non-psych gsi’s. when stocking the printers, if it’s awake, it’s going to give you this message about each drawer you have to clear, otherwise the print jobs won’t come through. that drawer looks good, it’s pretty close to the top. that one looks good too. i like to keep two to three reams of paper in here, and we have that, so this room is done. i don’t know how we got so many dishes in this kitchen, i’m afraid i’m going to break something. the utensils are stocked and we have tea, so that’s done. let me show you where the basement it, because you can’t access it from the other set of stairs. it’s mostly just labs down there, though there are some classrooms. you’ll notice where the tile suddenly changes; that’s where it becomes the math department and it’s like that on every floor, i’m pretty sure. this map shows you how the rooms are numbered, so this wing here begin with 42—which means that below that on the third floor, those rooms will start with 32, and so on, and so on. the faculty lounge hardly ever gets used. looks like we could use some forks. great. and you’ll notice this window looks down onto the atrium. it’s a really big building, it’s like a maze. if you have some free time, i suggest exploring it. oh, here’s the vending machines, for drinks and for snacks in case you ever need it. we don’t make coffee in this room, it’s for the other labs to take care of, we just make sure that there’s enough coffee for them. this box is looking pretty empty, so we’re going to have to bring some up. here’s where we keep the extra coffee and i’ll need to order more because we’re pretty low. maybe i’ll take you through how to create an order tomorrow.
