libraries
epitome of incomprehensibility All the libraries in Montreal are closed. I know that's not the thing to be sad about, but I was pretty upset on Friday.

Normally I spend a lot of time in libraries - writing, reading, browsing, looking at how shelves and seating and topic-based collections etc. are set up. I have 5 memberships and I also go to events or hang out in 3 more.

I'm glad I got my JPL card back in January. I saw on their website that they offered members digital access to the Montreal Gazette archive, so I impulsively bought a year's membership. My (librarian) father said, "Can't you get newspaper archives through Concordia?" and I was like, "Yes, but last time I checked I'd have to go there physically and it would be embarrassing to say, 'I'm doing research for a novel and I'd like to see the Sept. 12, 2001 issue of the Gazette.'" Dad: "Why?" Me: "They'll think I'm morbid."

Maybe I didn't check properly. Maybe I can get digital access to the Gazette through Concordia. Anyway, I'm glad I did get the JPL membership just in case.

...Although I could be all, "Nope, don't want to look up unpleasant topics today," and just avoid it. Even though what I want to check is just if there's a picture of Osama bin Laden so my thirteen-year-old protagonist can fall in love with him.

But I also have to do research for my essay for the Concordia course. And I'll have to depend on database articles.

The issue is to actually do things. I'm not likely to get depressed because of social_distancing, but my ADHD is going to make it harder to approach any semblance of organization.
