raze after dreaming of an ending worse than death, i_looked_out_the_window and saw snow. crumbs of dandruff smudging the stiff shoulders of the morning.

it's good to know mother_nature still has a sense of humour, even if my subconscious seems to have forgotten its funny bone.

raze the cruelest prank the universe could have played on me today would have been to give me a decent night's sleep for the first time in two and a half years.

alas, no dice.

ovenbird The only April Fool's Day I remember vividly happened when I was about 15. I got up in the morning to find that my parents had swapped identities. My mom was wearing my father's bathrobe and drinking out of his favourite coffee cup. My dad was wearing my mom's pyjamas and reading her newspaper. My brother and I joined in. We put on each other's clothes, adopted each other's mannerisms. It was funny. And then it wasn't. At some point things turned sinister. We started acting out each other's flaws and failings, poking fun at tender places and dragging them into the light. At least one of us started crying. We slunk away to put our own clothes back on. We slipped into the creased heap of our own characters and carried our bruised hearts through the rest of the day. 250401
