e_o_i I heard about the flooding in Toronto. It shut down the entire subway system yesterday and there were pictures of cars stuck in water. I hope things are getting better. 130709

no reason we broke a record; apparently we got more rain in a day than the city gets in a year.

things are a lot better today, though the city is obviously still recovering. it wasn't the entire subway system -- just a few sections. people lost power and cell phone connectivity.

GO train passengers got stranded for hours. one guy recounts his experience here:

e_o_i No problem. And I must have been thinking of Montreal when I said entire subway system. Because the metro will shut down sometimes from power failures, maybe because it's overheated, but not for any crazy weather reasons... yet... this year.. and then only for a few minutes. But it sounds tough to be stuck in a train for six hours. It isn't that hard when you're prepared for a long train ride and all, but to be stuck like that is annoying and potentially scary. At least, as he said at the end, it makes a good story. 130709
